i-act — Managing and Promoting Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing
A one-day, Royal College of Psychiatrists–accredited course focused on proactively promoting wellbeing at work as well as supporting people experiencing mental health issues.
i-act takes a slightly different angle from first-aid-style courses: alongside recognising and supporting mental ill health, it puts significant weight on proactively building wellbeing and resilience in teams — the “improving” as well as the “supporting”. It comes in two one-day versions: one for managers, one for all staff.
The course is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, which gives it strong clinical credibility, and every participant receives a substantial evidence-based manual and toolkit for use long after the course.
What you'll learn
- Understand mental health and wellbeing at work, and a manager’s responsibilities
- Use practical tools to build team wellbeing and resilience proactively
- Recognise when a colleague may be struggling and hold supportive conversations
- Connect people with appropriate professional support, using the i-act toolkit
Who it's for
- Line managers with wellbeing responsibilities
- Organisations building a preventative wellbeing strategy, not just crisis response
- Sectors that value clinical accreditation (healthcare, professional services)
Things to consider
- It is wellbeing-and-support training rather than a “first aider” qualification — pick it for prevention focus, not for a designated first-aider role
Frequently asked questions
i-act or MHFA — which should we choose?
Choose MHFA-style training to equip designated first aiders to respond when someone is struggling; choose i-act when you want managers proactively building team wellbeing with clinically accredited tools. Larger organisations often use both for different audiences.
